Physical healing is perhaps the hardest for us to really believe in; it is easier to believe that prayer can lead to repentance or can change a person psychologically. I can attest that prayer and petition for physical healing leads to repentance and psychological healing as the body transforms and becomes restored in an all-inclusive experience. So if you have the faith that the Lord still heals people as he did thousands of years ago, ask others to pray for you and learn to pray for your own healing.
To pray for healing requires the courage to accept the transformation of yourself and others. It also requires a prayer for routine maintenance of the healed spirit and body in the future. If you have confidence that Jesus Christ the Messiah might use your prayers to heal you or the sick, then begin by petition. Through devoted prayer and Scripture searching you can to find out what to pray for regarding complete healing. Learn to accept that our personal desire or belief of what healing is or should be is usually not what God sees as best for the believers. His restoration is in accordance to His will and our Spiritual needs for relationship with Him.
When a doctor first meets a patient he wants to find out what symptoms or illness he is to treat. We also need to find out what we are meant to pray for by understanding the root causes and symptoms of the illness or disease. We are looking for the right discernment and seeking God’s will in the process of our investigation. What seems to be wrong and what needs to happen to heal the body and keep it healed? What is the root cause: stress, disease, injury, poor health, negative experience, lack of hope or desire, bad medical practices?
When we investigate and listen in this way searching the Scriptures we can find understanding. Sickness will be overcome in the brilliance of our Savior’s light; darkness and ignorance will be dispersed.
Laying on of Hands and Deliverance from Illness.
“They will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover” (Mark 16:18).
When we lay hands a transfer of life-giving power is felt and a confidence that others are there to support the sufferer comes to be. The love of God is poured out and offers strength to all involved. This allows a freeing deliverance to take place in the hearts of the believers. Healing and living require regular spiritual inventories to be completed and old ways purged in order to sustain abundant life in the future. This deliverance is a detox for the soul. Find people to pray with you physically and utilize the healing powers spoken of in Scriptures.
Now there was a woman suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, whom no one had been able to cure. She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak; and the hemorrhage stopped at that instant. Jesus said, “Who touched me?” when they all denied that they had, Peter and his companions said, “Master, it is the crowds round you, pushing.” But Jesus said, “Somebody touched me. I felt that power had gone out from me.” (Luke 8:43-46)
Parenting Matters recognizes that Father God is the Great Physician and Mighty Healer. (Psalm 103:3, Psalm 107:19-21)
Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:8-15)
